How to remove dog period stains

Dog periods: What is it?
In spite of the fact that dogs do not experience menstruation in the same way that humans do, they do ovulate. The terms often used to describe this is dog heat or dog periods. Female dogs that are in heat (also known as estrus) have a bloody discharge from their vulva (similar to a human period or menstruation). And when they do, they'd probably appreciate a treat or two during that time.
This is when you’ll notice spots of blood or discharge on your carpet, flooring or furniture. But don’t worry, just like any other blood stain, there's a way to keep your furniture clean and blood free.
How to clean dog period stains

Identifying the carpet fabric
One of the main things you'll need to do is identify the type of fabric your carpet is made from. This is one of the most important steps in knowing how to remove dog period stains. If you have a natural fibre carpet, such as wool, you'll need to take special care as these fibres can be damaged by certain cleaning solutions. On the other hand, synthetic fibres are much more durable and can usually withstand harsh cleaning chemicals.
Once you've identified the fabric of your carpet, you'll need to treat the stain as quickly as possible. If you let the stain sit, it will become much harder to remove. You'll also need to determine what kind of cleaning solution to use.
Using an effective stain remover
The best way to remove stains is with an effective stain remover. Leave on for a few minutes to let the solution work its magic, and then dab gently with a wet cloth. Wipe clean and rinse the item with warm water. Tips for keeping your house clean when your dog is in heat
Use old towels or blankets to line your dog's bed.
A towel or blanket can be washed more quickly than the entire bed. Check your storage for blankets and towels you no longer use. Cover your dog's bed completely with towels and blankets. Your dog will also feel extra comfortable thanks to the additional bedding, which absorbs odours and stains.
Keeping your dog entertained will prevent stress messes.
Your dog will need more attention to stop her from getting bored and naughty. When your dog is in heat, she might want to cuddle up or receive more affection from you. Spend some time petting and playing with your dog while she's in heat. If your dog gets bored, she might become stressed out and make a mess as a result.
Take your dog into a room with hardwood floors.
You will be able to clean up messes more easily from hard surfaces than from carpets. Make sure to select a room that is not too isolated so that your dog still feels like she is in close proximity to you. Any place like a kitchen, dining room, bathroom, or uncarpeted bedroom works well.
Protect your furniture by putting covers on it.
A slipcover adds an extra layer of protection against blood stains. If you don't have hard floors or just want to let your dog snuggle up on the couch, waterproof slipcovers are available for any piece of furniture to prevent blood from soaking into it. Slide the slipcover over the furniture before letting your dog on it, and you'll be able to keep your furniture clean. When your dog dribbles blood, simply take off the slipcover and wipe it clean.
